Behind the Broom

For the past two years, I've covered the day-to-day public life of former Delhi Chief Minister and national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal — rallies, party events, government visits, relief work, and everything that happens in the gaps between them. This collection is a slice of that time.

The work spans very different registers: a studio interview shot under controlled light, the noise of a rally where his cap and the party symbol become part of the optics, official rounds through schools, sports facilities, and flood-hit areas, and the quieter moments away from any stage — a hand held on a market street, an embrace at home, a Holi afternoon that has nothing to do with politics. Spend two years close to one person, and you start noticing the distance between how he's presented and how he actually moves through a day.

"Behind the Broom" isn't a definitive portrait. It's a working photographer's record of access: what gets staged, what doesn't, and what it looks like to be in the room for both.
